I am writing to urge you to support the reinstatement of federal funding for HIV testing and PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) navigation services—critical components of our public health infrastructure that have saved lives and curbed the spread of HIV.
These services demonstrate clear success: early detection through testing reduces transmission, and PrEP is a proven tool for preventing new infections, especially in communities disproportionately affected by HIV.
Cuts to this funding jeopardize decades of progress. Without accessible testing, transmission risk increases. Without PrEP navigation, people often can’t access it due to cost, limited awareness, or healthcare barriers. These impacts are real, immediate, and cost lives.
Investing in prevention is not only the right thing to do—it’s financially wise. The cost of treating one HIV-positive individual far exceeds that of prevention through testing and PrEP. Continued federal support is essential to ending the HIV epidemic.
I urge you to help restore these funds. Our communities need your leadership to keep these lifesaving tools available to all who need them.
Thank you.
