I am writing to express my strong opposition to the last-minute Republican provision added to the Continuing Resolution on November 10. This kind of political maneuvering—sneaking in partisan demands at the eleventh hour—undermines responsible governance and the trust of the American people. Democrats must not cave to these tactics. Time and again, Republicans have shown that they cannot be trusted to negotiate in good faith. They have repeatedly used threats of shutdowns and political brinkmanship to push harmful policies—often at the expense of Americans’ healthcare, safety, and economic stability. We must protect Americans’ healthcare and ensure continued funding for vital programs that millions rely on. Healthcare should never be a bargaining chip in a political game. I urge you to stand firm. Pass a clean CR that keeps the government open, safeguards access to healthcare, and protects essential services—without rewarding partisan obstruction. The American people deserve stability, compassion, and leadership, not chaos manufactured for political gain.
