Dear Member of Congress,
I am an Arkansas constituent calling on Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.
At his October 5 rally in Nebraska, while discussing Iran, Trump said, “Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”
These words are outrageous and unacceptable. A president has a duty to protect every American. Families in California deserve the same protection as families in Arkansas. No American city should be spoken of as expendable.
The White House claims he was describing a threat his administration prevented. That explanation does not erase his words or remove Congress’s responsibility to investigate. Americans deserve public hearings, examination of the full remarks, and accountability.
I urge the House to initiate an impeachment inquiry and pursue articles of impeachment based on the evidence. I urge senators to support a full examination and vote for removal if the charges are substantiated.
This is about whether our president can be trusted to uphold his duty to protect the American people. Congress must take that responsibility seriously.
Please respond with the specific actions you will take. I expect you to put Americans’ safety and your constitutional responsibilities above party loyalty.
Sincerely,
Sherri G
