Elon Musk's recent announcement of awarding $1 million to a Wisconsin voter just days before a high-stakes state Supreme Court election raises serious ethical concerns. His tactic of offering financial incentives to voters is yet another blatant attempt to influence the election outcome, which would be a violation of federal law prohibiting expenditures to influence voting (18 U.S. Code § 597). As you are aware, this is not the first time Musk has employed such tactics, having run similar voter incentive programs in several battleground states during the 2024 presidential election. While a judge previously allowed it to continue to Pennsylvania, the legality of these actions is highly questionable and undermines the integrity of our electoral process. Musk's multimillion-dollar spending in support of the Republican-backed candidate, coupled with his willingness to use his immense wealth to potentially sway voters, raises concerns about the corrosive influence of money in politics. Elections should be decided by the free will of informed voters, not by those with the deepest pockets seeking to buy influence. I urge you to publicly denounce Elon Musk and call for a thorough investigation into his latest attempt to sway the outcome of what should be a free and fair election. Allowing such blatant attempts to financially influence voters could set dangerous precedent and further erode the public trust in the democratic process -- something our legislators should be increasingly leery of. Our elections must remain sacrosanct, devoid of undue influence from wealthy individuals or special interests. Thank you for your time, and Slava Ukraini.
