It is extremely concerning that the administration plans to tamper with past National Climate Assessment reports to downplay the worsening climate crisis. The National Climate Assessment has a rigorous, transparent process involving hundreds of scientific experts across disciplines. Altering or replacing this vital synthesis of climate science with misinformation drafted by fossil fuel interests threatens public health, safety, and our ability to address climate change based on factual evidence. The impacts of climate change are being felt across the country through worsening heat waves, floods, wildfires, and storms. Denying this reality by rewriting scientific assessments does not change the facts - it only leaves more people in harm's way. I urge you to intervene and safeguard the integrity of the National Climate Assessment reports. These scientifically grounded assessments are crucial tools for making informed decisions to protect communities from escalating climate threats.
