Get back to work - federal workers shouldn’t suffer at your hands

To: Sen. Ricketts, Rep. Flood, Sen. Fischer

From: A constituent in Papillion, NE

October 10

Thirty percent of federal workers have served in our military. Instead of insulting veterans with layoffs and threats to withhold federal workers’ back pay, the House needs to return to Washington DC and hammer out a compromise with Democratic leadership to reopen the federal government. The insults and refusal to be in DC is alienating Republicans from their own party. I don’t know how many Republicans will be able to hold their nose and vote for the GOP after enduring this unbelievably insulting behavior. The federal service is not monolithic. Get the House back in session and figure this out. This all came to a head when President Trump told Republicans in September “not to work with Democrats” - that’s exactly what created a negotiating impasse. It’s time to acknowledge that devastating error and get this figured out.
