I am deeply concerned by the administration's pattern of conducting high-stakes foreign policy through unvetted, unaccountable channels and erratic unilateral declarations. Bypassing standard diplomatic protocols, career foreign service professionals, and rigorous congressional oversight to advance private-channel negotiations creates severe national security vulnerabilities.
American foreign policy must be anchored in constitutional checks and balances, transparency, and consultation with Congress—not impulsive maneuvers that blindside our traditional allies and disorient our global standing. When executive overreach treats vital geopolitical alliances as transactional playthings, it directly degrades our national credibility and destabilizes international peace.
I expect my representatives in Congress to actively push back against this erosion of institutional norms. Please exercise your oversight powers to demand a full accounting of these shadow negotiations, ensure that the State Department retains authority over international strategy, and insist that American foreign policy remain faithful to our democratic values.
