The Governor has apparently appointed Scott Galloway of Raging Moderates to the UC Board of Regents. As someone who attended that institution at one time I hope the Senate will not confirm Galloway, because I thought California was supposed to be progressive and he is one of those "DEI is reverse racism" types. Per the Daily Bruin 7/22: 'He has also openly criticized diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, arguing that college acceptances should be based on socioeconomic status instead of physical characteristics, according to a May 2024 video by the Wall Street Journal. Galloway called DEI “an incredible misdirect and unnecessary” in a November 2024 YouTube video.' We desperately need people in power with a greater awareness of this country's systemic racism problem at this point (and sexism, cause DEI programs have mostly benefited white women) and a strong desire to fix it. Also, Gavin is really working overtime to get those sweet sweet "moderate" Republican votes in 2028 but it's obviously not going to work, the State shouldn't be following his lead on anything at this point. More red flags for Galloway from the above: 'Galloway has served on the board of directors for companies including Panera Bread, Urban Outfitters and the New York Times Company. He was the founder and chairman of digital intelligence firm L2, e-commerce gift retailer RedEnvelope and brand consulting firm Prophet.' I don't know who else is lobbying for this position but surely there's someone better. Like Reecie Colbert. She is also a UCLA alumnus and podcaster, and unlike Scott (and I) who just did regular Econ at UCLA, she did Bus. Econ with the Accounting minor...it's a lot, and frankly, the Econ B.A. reads kind of lazy for Scott... If you want someone to send on Fox News Galloway's fine, but there's lots of better choices out there with actual values. Also, white dudes still and forever hold the record for creepy crimes, I'm just saying, why roll the dice ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯...?
