I am concerned about the inhumane living conditions reported at the Krome Detention Center. A viral video shows detainees sleeping on the floor with little to no food or water available. Family members have spoken out, saying detainees are being "treated like dogs" with no air conditioning, lack of medical attention, and unsanitary conditions. In February, a Ukrainian man tragically died after allegedly not receiving adequate care at Krome. While ICE states they are working to manage overcrowding, the human rights violations occurring at this facility are unacceptable. I urge you to take immediate action to investigate these disturbing reports and ensure all detainees are treated with basic dignity and have access to adequate food, water, medical care, and humane living spaces. Allowing such cruel and degrading treatment to continue is a stain on our nation's values.
