When will it stop? I am a high school student and I have had numerous school shooting threats. My friends and I have spent countless class periods practicing as if there were a school shooter in our school. You may think that those drills help, but they don't. The shooters go through the drills too. The only way we can stop this is to ban guns, or at least have more gun control. My friends and I FEAR FOR OUR LIVES almost daily, wondering if we will get back home safely. The government seems to worry so much about abortion, taking the life of a clump of cells, but when will you start caring about the actual children? Your priorities are skewed, and we all see that, I'm sure you do as well. I am sick and tired of having to beg my teachers to close and lock the doors when a shooting threat happens. I am tired of the kindergarteners having to practice hiding in the dark away from their possible murderer. I am tired of planning with my friends how we would run to my house in the event of a shooter. We all are. Why are the children the only ones who seem to care about their safety? The adults, like you, are supposed to protect us, but you care more about your assault weapons than a living being. 8 year old Fletcher Merkel, 10 year old Harper Moyski, 13 year old Adrian Torres are just to name a few from the past MONTH. Those children had FAMILIES. They had FUTURES. A gun doesn't have a family. The only future a gun has is being a killer. Please, I'm begging you, along with all other students and educators. We don't want to die. We have dreams. When will you realize that? When will you put children over guns? That's the way it's meant to be. Teens see right through you. Is that why you don't care? Because we see what you guys are doing to our country? There's no excuse. These children's blood is on YOUR hands. The only way to clean it is to help get rid of guns, or else you're going to end up drenched.
