The President's attempt to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport immigrants without due process is a concerning overreach of executive power. This archaic wartime law was intended for true invasions and predatory incursions, not as a tool to bypass constitutional protections. Deporting individuals based solely on their nationality, without any factual determination or fair hearing, violates fundamental principles of justice. The United States was founded on the ideals of liberty and equal rights under the law. Stripping away judicial review and subjecting entire groups to arbitrary removal based on country of origin is antithetical to these core values. All people within our borders, including non-citizens, deserve to have their cases fairly adjudicated through established legal procedures. This unilateral action undermines the system of checks and balances enshrined in our Constitution. I urge you to stand against this executive overreach and defend the due process rights guaranteed to all people in the United States. Preserving these constitutional safeguards is essential to upholding the rule of law.
