I am writing to urgently request your assistance regarding the detention of my daughter-in-law, Katie Paul, who was taken into ICE custody during her green card interview. Katie is a UK citizen, married to a U.S. citizen, and the mother of my 6 month old grandson who needs his mom. Despite having no criminal history and a valid work permit that allows her to be in the USA legally, she was detained without warning. Most distressingly, her baby was taken from her arms during the arrest. This has caused profound emotional trauma to both Katie and our family. This situation raises serious concerns about the proportionality and humanity of the actions taken against her. I respectfully ask that your office look into her case, ensure she receives due process, and advocate for her release so she can reunite with her family. No family should be torn apart in this way. I urge you to help bring justice and compassion to Katie’s case and to others facing similar circumstances. Thank you for your attention and for your service to our community.
