Congratulations on your win in the midterms! It was an epic night for Democrats AND democracy all over the U.S. in addition to its being an absolute rejection of Trump and Trumpism, this election ushered in a new generation of Democrats into leadership roles. We need to embrace this future and the House needs to signal its willingness to face its responsibilities by electing new leadership. The old guard MUST make way for new blood. That is why I am writing to you to urge you to consider your vote for Speaker very carefully. Hakim Jeffries is not the right choice for this historic moment. Please do not rubber stamp Jeffries’ nomination. Please consider other candidates, such as Katherine Clark, Ro Khanna, or Cory Booker soberly and seriously. This is a momentous choice for a momentous moment. Please treat it as such.
