An Open Letter
To: Pres. Biden
From: A verified voter in Felch, MI
May 2
I am a school social worker in rural Michigan. I was in college in 2016 when I voted in my first presidential election and spent the next four years advocating and promoting democratic causes and values to ensure that we did not see a repeat of a Trump presidency. I was so relieved at your 2020 win, as were many around me, who typically voted conservative. Up until this week, I had planned on proudly voting for you again in 2024. I am not just in dismay at your view and rhetoric at the current student protests, but am in horror at your ongoing support of Israel. It is not antisemitic to oppose genocide. I urge you to critically listen to your colleagues, experts, and constituents advocating for a ceasefire and reflect on your views. I cannot in good conscious tell my children that I voted for a president who allowed this evil to continue when he had the power to end it.
