Mike Lee, in his incessant drive for attention and Internet glory, has tweeted "We're not defunding ICE. Live with it," and oh Senator Lee, if only we could. If only these border patrol agents were not illegally occupying a US city, executing citizens who irritate them, and ruining lives every day. If only we, as US citizens, were able to live in a country where border patrol handled immigration cases, and protected the border, rather than wasting billions of dollars of taxpayer money to rape, assault, and murder citizens and residents with impunity. If only we could live with it. If only we didn't have to worry that our own government will murder us in the street for offending or annoying them, which is not an executable offense in any part of US territory. If only we could trust that our elected officials cared about us or our lives in any way, rather than grabbing power at any cost to their constituents. Election day is coming, and corrupt governmental officials eventually get put on trial themselves. History will remember who objected to the illegal execution of US citizens in the streets and who swept up behind ICE in the aftermath. Which side of the tribunal do you want to be on when that happens?
