I am writing as your constituent — a US citizen from Douglas County, Colorado — to demand you actively oppose any federal funds directed toward those who participated in or were convicted in connection with the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
Using public money to financially benefit participants in political violence is not a new tactic. Historians who study democratic collapse have documented how Weimar Germany systematically insulated violent actors from legal and financial consequences — normalizing political violence by absorbing it into the machinery of the state. We should not be repeating that pattern.
I am asking you to:
1. Publicly oppose any budget measure or fund transfer benefiting January 6th participants.
2. Use every procedural tool available to block such measures — amendments, holds, committee action.
3. Demand full public accounting of any funds already moved.
4. Speak on the record. Silence is a vote.
Your constituents are watching, and history will record who stood up.
