Fully restore funding to NWS and NOAA — or more lives will be lost.

The U.S. government is slashing life-saving science to the bone. Weather and climate agencies like the National Weather Service (NWS) and NOAA are being gutted by reckless budget cuts, leaving Americans more vulnerable than ever to extreme weather and climate chaos. This isn't theoretical. More than seventy people drowned in Texas floods because key NWS positions were left vacant. Vacant — because of funding cuts. Communities had no warning. Families had no chance. That’s not a budget issue — that’s blood on hands. Now, it’s getting worse. The FY2026 budget is a full-on assault on science: NOAA: 39% cut — their entire climate research office wiped out. NASA Earth Science: 52% cut. NSF: 55% cut. EPA: 53% cut. USGS: 31% cut. Climate.gov: staff already fired. One of the most trusted climate info sites — erased. This isn’t austerity. This is sabotage. It’s the deliberate dismantling of the tools we use to survive droughts, floods, fires, and hurricanes. It’s handing us over, defenseless, to disaster. We demand immediate restoration of full funding to NOAA, NWS, NSF, NASA, EPA, USGS, and all agencies charged with protecting life, property, and the future of our planet. Stop these cuts. Save lives. Fund science like lives depend on it — because they do.
