I’m writing to express my deep horror and outrage at Israel’s recently approved plan to escalate its military operations in Gaza, including the so-called “conquest” of the territory and the promotion of “voluntary migration” of Palestinians into Egypt’s Sinai Desert. Let’s call this what it is: the annexation of Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of its people.
This plan unfolds against the backdrop of a 9-week starvation and aid blockade, along with ongoing airstrikes across the strip. It outlines full military occupation, territorial control, and the mass displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians toward the Rafah border crossing. This isn’t a new idea—it continues a 77-year history of forced displacement. As of 2021, more than 9 million Palestinians remain displaced worldwide, denied the right to return to their homeland.
Any Palestinian who is relocated—whether by force or under the pretense of “voluntary” migration—will likely never be allowed to return. That’s why so many are resisting relocation orders, despite the unimaginable conditions they’re living under. After 17 months of genocide, people in Gaza are starving, injured, grieving, and terrified. Entire families have been wiped out. One million of the two million people at risk are children.
The ethnic cleansing of Gaza is happening in plain sight—and the international community’s inaction is enabling it.
As your constituent, I urge you to take immediate, concrete action:
Impose a two-way arms and trade embargo on Israel
End all diplomatic relations with the apartheid regime
Demand international investigations and accountability for war crimes
This is a moral emergency. Please don’t remain silent.
