Hold Trump accountable for bombing Venezuela

January 3

Hold Trump accountable for bombing Venezuela. President Trump has no authority to carry out “a large scale strike against Venezuela,” as he posted on Truth Social in the early morning hours of January 3, 2026. According to AP News, the “Armed Services committees in both houses of Congress, which have jurisdiction over military matters, have not been notified by the administration of any actions….” President Trump’s decision to bomb Venezuela violates both The War Powers Act, Article I of the U.S. Constitution and the “law of war” under international law. In bombing Venezuela and taking hostage President Maduro, with unilateral disregard to our Constitution and the law of our international community, President Trump violates the purpose and intent of our democracy by the framers of the constitution. Moreover, President Trump sets us on a dangerous descent into the aggressor status of despots and dictators, which our country, our democracy has fought against for 250 years. President Trump must be held accountable by Congress—from both side of the aisle, in both houses.
