Why Aren’t You Standing Up for the American People?
To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley

June 5
I am writing to ask a simple question: Why are you not standing up for the American people?
Every day, Americans are struggling with rising costs, housing affordability, healthcare expenses, and economic uncertainty. Yet Congress continues to focus on policies and priorities that do not appear to reflect the concerns of the people you were elected to represent.
I am particularly concerned about continued U.S. involvement and funding related to Israel's war. Why are American taxpayers being asked to finance another foreign conflict when so many needs here at home remain unmet? Many of your constituents do not want the United States drawn deeper into this war, nor do they want their tax dollars used to support it.
I am also urging you to oppose any further expansion of executive power through weaponization funds or similar measures. Americans expect accountability and oversight, not more authority concentrated in the hands of political appointees.
Additionally, I strongly urge you to vote against the confirmation of Todd Blanche. This administration has already demonstrated a troubling pattern of prioritizing loyalty over competence. The American people deserve qualified public servants who will uphold the rule of law and serve the public interest.
You were elected to represent your constituents, not a political party, not special interests, and not any individual politician. Your responsibility is to the people who sent you to Washington.
If you continue supporting policies that many Americans view as harmful to our country, you should not assume there will be no political consequences. Midterm elections are approaching, and voters are paying attention. Many Americans are tired of seeing their concerns ignored while Washington continues business as usual.
I would appreciate a direct response explaining how your recent votes and positions serve the interests of the people you represent.
