KOSA will not protect children, it a blanket censorship bill that aims to hurt marginalized communities (mainly the LGBTQ) but will also be a massive attack on free speech as a whole, just disguised as protecting children. Children stuck in abusive homes would not be able to reach out for help, especially not LGBTQ children or those from poor backgrounds. Trying to sneak it into a must pass before the end of year spending bill, after it’s been rejected multiple times already, shows further those behind it are nefarious in intent. This bill must not be allowed to become law, for the sake of democracy, for the sake of free speech. Under the Trump presidency, too, no doubt it will be abused in various ways to harm people who criticize or oppose him for any reason. To target any groups he finds, “undesirable.” Please, reject it, vote no.
