Upholding Ethical Standards in Congress
To: Sen. McCormick
From: A constituent in Morrisville, PA
April 15
Dear Senator McCormick,
I am writing to express my concern regarding recent reports about Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s stock trades coinciding with former President Trump’s announcement of a 90-day pause on certain tariffs. According to financial disclosures, Rep. Greene purchased shares in 19 companies on April 8 and 9, 2025, just before the announcement, leading to significant market gains.
During your campaign, you pledged to prevent members of Congress and their immediate families from using their positions for personal financial gain, including prohibiting trading of individual stocks and derivatives. In light of these events, I urge you to take action to uphold these ethical standards.
Specifically, I ask:
• Will you support or introduce legislation to ban individual stock trading by members of Congress and their immediate families?
• Will you call for an investigation into whether any members had prior knowledge of the tariff pause and acted on it for personal gain?
Your commitment to ethical governance is crucial for maintaining public trust. I look forward to your response and to seeing you take a stand on this important issue.
