I am your constituent and I am shocked to see that the federal government is willing to flush public health down the toilet. Trump and Kennedy have cut the Public Health Emergency Program that helps states’ public health officials prepare for pandemics and natural disasters by 52% Then Trump has demanded that the Hospital Preparedness Program be eliminated entirely in his 2026 budget plan. The GAO just release a report demanding better coordination between those two programs and and better coordination with HHS. It won’t be possible if the funds are gone. If we have a disaster no amount of money will help you if your hospital is unprepared. Get it!!! THIS AFFECTS ALL AMERICANS. Here is what I want you to do. I want you to make sure that those programs, by name, are funded to at least the 2024 levels so that hospitals and public health offices are ready for the next disaster which seems to be around the corner with RSV, measles, and bird flu becoming ever prevalent.
