Protect Birthright Citizenship

To: Sen. Reed, Sen. Whitehouse, Rep. Magaziner

From: A constituent in Warwick, RI

March 16

President Trump is advocating to revoke birthright citizenship for the numerous children born in the United States, a policy that would strip legal rights from babies who are American-born and have known no other country. This proposal is incredibly harsh and could lead to widespread chaos for families, as children with no memories of any other homeland might face detention, deportation, or separation from their families. I strongly urge lawmakers and citizens to act swiftly by introducing legislation that safeguards our constitutional rights and protects the innocence of these children. It is crucial to defend the principle of birthright citizenship enshrined in the 14th Amendment, which affirms that anyone born on U.S. soil is granted full citizenship. Stand firm against this threat to our core rights and send a powerful message to President Trump: our nation will not ignore calls for justice, fairness, and the protection of vulnerable families.
