Block mass deportations to protect Georgia’s economy

I am writing to urge you to oppose any attempt by President Trump to use Georgia resources to deport immigrants within our state. Not only do the hard working law abiding immigrants of whatever status deserve the opportunity to reach their own American dream (and the opportunity to earn their way into tax paying status), Georgia’s economy in large part rests on their backs. Without immigrants, Georgia’s agricultural products may rot in the fields and our chickens remain unslaughtered and our grocery aisles empty. Without immigrants, service businesses, construction businesses, and home repair businesses will struggle to meet demand. Prices for goods and services across the board will spike, at a time when everyday Georgians are already struggling under the weight of inflation. Mass deportation of people who are contributing members of society is wildly unpopular with the American people in polls. It’s also incredibly expensive, and will lead to logistical and humanitarian nightmares. And while you may not be able to block federal law entirely, you can withhold Georgia resources and co-operation for the sake of the people of Georgia and to protect our economy. I urge you to do so, not simply for the immigrants involved, but also because their presence actively helps Georgia’s economy and everyday citizens. We have so many better things to do with our resources as a state than to use them in hurting our own economy and people. Please block this nonsense at every turn.
