Protect voting rights through federal legislation

To: Sen. Bennet, Sen. Hickenlooper

From: A constituent in Denver, CO

June 6, 2025

As a constituent who will be closely following how my representatives vote on this issue before the next election, I urge you to prioritize protecting voting rights by enacting strong federal legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act. This vital bill would establish national standards for voter access, outlaw partisan gerrymandering, and safeguard non-partisan election administration. Defending free and fair elections for all Americans, regardless of race, income, age, or disability, is crucial to preserving our democracy. The right to vote is fundamental, yet recent years have seen alarming efforts to restrict this right through measures like stringent voter ID laws, polling place closures, and purges of voter rolls that disproportionately disenfranchise marginalized communities. I call on you to take decisive action as my elected representative to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and ensure every eligible voter can make their voice heard.
