Opposition to Introducing Turning Point USA into Nebraska Public Schools
To: Gov. Pillen, Sen. Cavanaugh
From: A constituent in Omaha, NE
February 11
I am writing as a concerned Nebraska resident to express strong opposition to the reported effort to bring Turning Point USA into our public school system.
Public schools are meant to serve all students and families, regardless of political affiliation. Introducing a partisan political organization into taxpayer-funded schools risks undermining that neutrality and could compromise the educational environment. Our schools should focus on academic excellence, critical thinking, and civic understanding—not advancing the agenda of any political organization, whether conservative or liberal.
I am also concerned that facilitating the involvement of a partisan group in public schools may raise constitutional concerns. The Nebraska Constitution and the U.S. Constitution both emphasize the importance of equal protection and the appropriate use of public resources. If public institutions are used to promote or favor a specific political ideology, that raises serious questions about fairness, viewpoint neutrality, and the proper role of government in education.
I respectfully ask that you oppose any effort that would formally integrate or promote Turning Point USA—or any partisan political organization—within our public school system. Nebraska students deserve an education free from political influence and partisan pressure.
Thank you for your time and for your service to our state.
