An Open Letter

To: Gov. Abbott

From: A verified voter in Converse, TX

July 15

HB 3225 failed in regular session because it is bad law. Texans overwhelmingly support their public libraries, and access to information, and HB 3225, or whatever undead version of it gets dragged back into the light, imposes a horrible burden upon them, with no benefit. If parents don't want their kids to read certain books, then that should be up to the parents to control. They should be forced to parent. To engage with what their kids are reading, not just foist responsibility for that onto the librarians, nor to restrict others from accessing things they personally find objectionable.
