Images of recent ICE actions in Minneapolis do not show immigration enforcement. They show state-sponsored terrorism on behalf of this Republican administration. ICE ‘officers’ are not complying with the Constitution. They are assaulting Americans with impunity while hiding behind masks to avoid accountability. Immigration enforcement is necessary, but must be done lawfully and with accountability. ICE ‘officers’ are using the pretext of immigration enforcement to avoid any constitutional guardrails, such as due process and warrants, that protect us from governmental abuse. We need immigration enforcement that respects and follows the Constitution, not a rogue agency of poorly-trained and unvetted ‘officers’ who disregard it. How many more suburban soccer moms need to be shot in the face before ICE is held accountable? My wife and I urge you to do everything in your power to rein in ICE’s abuses and hold individual ‘officers’ accountable for their abuses of power.
