Educators in Crisis

To: Sen. Rouse, Gov. Spanberger, Del. Feggans

August 10

As an experienced English teacher, I am deeply concerned about the state of public education and the loss of experienced teachers. The teacher shortage cannot be solved through recruitment alone. We must address why experienced, dedicated teachers are leaving the profession. We are managing large classes, testing requirements, increasing documentation, and serious student needs without enough time, staffing, or support. These conditions take a serious toll on teachers’ mental health. Ex are unsustainable. perienced educators are reaching levels of stress and burnout that When experienced teachers leave because the job has become unsustainable, schools lose years of knowledge, skill, and experience. Please listen to teachers and take meaningful action.
