I am writing to you today with a profound sense of anger and urgency regarding the abhorrent actions of the Israeli regime and the continued support the United States offers to this oppressive state. It is time that we demand justice for the Palestinian people and put an end to our complicity in these heinous crimes. A recent leaked video aired by Israel's Channel 12 has exposed yet another atrocity committed by Israeli soldiers against a Gazan Palestinian at the Sde Teiman detention camp. This footage shows the sexual assault of a blindfolded detainee by nine Israeli reservist soldiers, a war crime of such depravity that it leaves no room for ambiguity about the moral bankruptcy of the Israeli military and its leadership. This is an act also reported in the New York Times on 7/29. This is not an isolated incident but part of a systemic pattern of abuse and violence against Palestinians. In recent months, numerous reports have emerged detailing mass abuse of Palestinian prisoners from Gaza at Sde Teiman. Yet, no substantive action has been taken to hold the perpetrators accountable. The Israeli military prosecution's so-called "investigation" into this recent sexual assault has yet to result in any charges against the accused, reflecting a blatant disregard for justice. Unlike many of the debunked Israeli claims about beheaded babies and unconscionable sexual violence, there is indisputable evidence of US-funded Israeli bombs beheading Palestinian babies and Israeli soldiers raping prisoners--Prisoners, need I remind you, who have not been arrested, tried, or convicted and are therefore innocent under the law. Moreover, since October 7, Israel's brutal military campaign has resulted in the deaths of more than 40,000 Palestinians in Gaza, and the breakdown of services and infrastructure in Gaza has made an accurate up-to-date count impossible. The Lancet says the deaths could be well over 180,000, most of that women and children. This is nothing short of genocide, a crime for which Israel is currently being accused at the International Court of Justice. Our continued alliance with such a regime makes us complicit in these atrocities. As a constituent, I demand that you take immediate action to address these issues. It is imperative that the United States reevaluates its relationship with Israel and ceases all military and financial support until there is verifiable evidence of meaningful change. I demand you refuse to accept further funding from AIPAC. I demand you decry Israel's undisputable war crimes and hold Netanyahu accountable. We must stand on the right side of history and uphold the principles of human rights and justice. I urge you to publicly and proudly speak out against these crimes and to push for policies that hold the Israeli regime accountable. Our nation's integrity and commitment to justice depend on it.
