Immigrants deserve due-process before deportation- it's in the constitution.

To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Schweikert

From: A constituent in Phoenix, AZ

April 24

The United States was founded on principles of due process and equal protection under the law. Every person within our borders, regardless of immigration status, deserves basic rights and legal safeguards. Deportation proceedings often lack meaningful due process, with immigrants facing hurried hearings, inaccessible legal representation, and an opaque system stacked against them. Deporting individuals without fair judicial review violates our nation's core values of justice and human rights. We must ensure robust due process protections are afforded to all facing potential removal from their homes and communities in the United States. Upholding due process is vital to maintaining our moral integrity as a nation of laws and human dignity.
