I urge a thorough multi-agency investigation into these sightings to determine their origins and purposes. Protecting public safety must be the top priority. The full capabilities of federal, state, and local law enforcement should be leveraged to monitor the situation, identify the operators, and take appropriate action to prohibit any unlawful or nefarious drone activities from continuing. Residents deserve to feel secure in their neighborhoods without the threat of undue surveillance or reckless operation of unmanned aircraft systems. A coordinated and comprehensive response is warranted to address this emerging issue and uphold the law.
