Text of Article I, Section 8 (abridged and summarized):
“The Congress shall have Power To…”
1. Lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises – to pay debts and provide for defense and general welfare.
2. Borrow money on the credit of the United States.
3. Regulate commerce with foreign nations, among the states (interstate), and with Native American tribes.
4. Establish rules for naturalization (citizenship) and bankruptcy.
5. Coin money and regulate its value; fix weights and measures.
6. Provide for punishment of counterfeiting.
7. Establish post offices and post roads.
8. Promote science and arts by securing copyrights and patents.
9. Create lower federal courts beneath the Supreme Court. Take your responsibility back! Done
