The influence of money in politics has led to a crisis of representation, with wealthy special interests drowning out the voices of ordinary citizens. We must enact sweeping campaign finance reform to rein in the corrosive effects of unchecked money and restore faith in our democracy. Simultaneously, restrictive voter ID laws, gerrymandering, and voter roll purges have disenfranchised millions, especially marginalized communities. Securing free, fair and accessible elections for all by expanding voting rights is imperative. Furthermore, we cannot ignore the genocide of the Uyghur people and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, China. Credible reports of mass internment, forced labor, sterilization and reeducation camps demand global condemnation and concrete action to end these atrocities against humanity. Only by taking money out of politics, defending voting rights, and confronting genocide can we uphold our democratic values and human rights.
