End the Corporate Tax Giveaway

To: Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Onder, Sen. Hawley

December 22

Eliminate 100% bonus depreciation, thereby repealing one of the most expensive corporate tax loopholes in the federal tax code. This provision allows corporations to claim $16 billion in retroactive tax write-offs and is projected to cost taxpayers more than $362 billion over the next decade. The benefits flow overwhelmingly to large, profitable corporations that already pay low effective tax rates. Bonus depreciation delivers minimal economic benefit while encouraging stock buybacks, dividend payouts, and outsized executive compensation rather than job creation or productive investment. Do not allow this costly and ineffective tax break to remain in place. Support legislation to eliminate bonus depreciation, block future corporate write-offs, and protect public revenue.
