Oppose Stephen Miller's Appointment and Extremist Immigration Policies

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. McCaul, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Katy, TX

January 26

I am writing to urge you to publicly oppose Stephen Miller's continued influence over immigration policy and to support legislative measures that would counter his extremist agenda. Miller's documented connections to white nationalist movements should disqualify him from any government position. Between March 2015 and June 2016, he sent over 900 emails to Breitbart News promoting white nationalist literature including "The Camp of the Saints," sharing content from American Renaissance (founded by white nationalist Jared Taylor), and expressing admiration for the Immigration Act of 1924 that Hitler cited in Mein Kampf. He promoted the "great replacement" conspiracy theory that elites are purposefully replacing white Americans. These are not abstract concerns. Miller designed the zero-tolerance family separation policy that tore children from their parents at the border. A White House adviser reported that "Stephen actually enjoys seeing those pictures at the border." He drafted the Muslim ban that required three versions over 18 months to withstand legal challenges. He attempted to terminate DACA, which the Supreme Court blocked in a 5-4 ruling on June 18, 2020. In April 2020, he drafted an executive order halting green card issuance. More than 80 Democratic members of Congress called for Miller's resignation after investigative reporting verified his white nationalist perspective. A Department of Homeland Security official stated: "I'm disgusted that my venerable agency has turned into his personal tool for hate." Miller has systematically purged civil servants not aligned with his agenda and relied on policy recommendations from anti-immigrant hate groups like the Center for Immigration Studies and Federation for American Immigration Reform, both founded by eugenicist John Tanton. I ask that you publicly condemn Miller's role in shaping policy, support congressional oversight of his activities, and back legislation that would restore humanitarian immigration standards and protect vulnerable populations from policies rooted in white nationalism.
