Scrutinize NOAA dismissals, uphold congressional oversight and public safety.

To: Sen. Cotton, Rep. Womack, Sen. Boozman

From: A constituent in Rogers, AR

March 2

The dismissals at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) by the Department of Government Efficiency undermine the constitutional system of checks and balances. Congress has a responsibility to exercise its oversight role and ensure that executive actions follow proper procedures and serve the national interest. Allowing DOGE to unilaterally and indiscriminately slash jobs at NOAA without legislative scrutiny or evidence-based justification risks compromising the agency's critical functions, which protect lives and the economy. As elected representatives, you must fulfill your duty to the American people by conducting thorough hearings, gathering expert testimony, and making informed decisions about any proposed workforce reductions at NOAA. Failure to uphold this process would abdicate Congress's constitutional authority and jeopardize public safety and economic stability for the sake of arbitrary cuts. I urge you to take immediate action to review and potentially restrain these dismissals until their full implications can be properly assessed through the established governmental process.
