The rapacious greed of the billionaire robber-baron class has brought our once-great nation to its knees. Donald Trump’s greed for money, power, and worship has fueled his criminal politics; Elon Musk’s greed for ever-more money and popularity has fueled the DOGE destruction of all our social safety nets. Those are just the two most prominent current examples. Big money has corrupted our once-decent political system, allowing politicians to be motivated by selfish profit rather than a passion for building a better, stronger society for all our citizens in our communities. If we ever have another chance to rebuild our country and our democracy, it will be because we take down the Greed Monster. But that’s for later, just a hope in this ugly moment when a criminal regime has launched open war upon its own people in Los Angeles. California has the fourth-largest economy in the WORLD. We are a donor state; we provide lifelines to the Red Welfare States like Texas. New York has kept South Carolina alive practically single-handed. These Republican welfare states would go bankrupt within months at most without our money buying them out of the problems they create for themselves with terrible policy. Yet they are the direct opposite of grateful; they have launched open war upon us. Since California is under open attack, the one peaceful solution that may yet work is to cut off our funding of the federal government under this criminal regime. We can’t afford any more half-measures or cling to nebulous hopes of change for the better - we must ACT NOW while our country is still on life support and might have a chance to recover one day. It’s time for what you and others have mentioned: a Tax Strike. Cut off all funding of the federal government and red welfare states. Do it NOW. It’s the only thing that might work while preserving what peace we still have. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
