Support New Progressive Leadership — The Party's Base Has Spoken

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Chu

From: A verified voter in Pasadena, CA

June 25

Tuesday's primaries were a mandate, not a suggestion. Zohran Mamdani's endorsed candidates swept all three races — Brad Lander beat incumbent Dan Goldman in the 10th district, Claire Valdez flipped the 7th, and Darializa Avila Chevalier knocked out Adriano Espaillat despite his backing from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries himself. The base is not waiting for permission to move left. This should be a wake-up call for Democratic leadership. Jeffries bet on incumbents and lost. Chuck Schumer refused to endorse Mamdani after his primary win, and his approval ratings are now in freefall — a Senate primary challenge is no longer a fantasy. The voters who showed up Tuesday are not an anomaly. They are the future of this party, and they are demanding representation that actually reflects their values on housing, Gaza, and economic justice. Stop protecting incumbents who have lost the room. Back the candidates and policies that are winning. The results are in.
