State budget for education.
To: Sen. Langerholc
From: A constituent in Curwensville, PA
August 6
Earlier this week, Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward admitted that Senate Republicans are holding up Pennsylvania's FY 2025-26 state budget to try to advance a new school voucher scheme that would send public tax dollars to unaccountable private and religious schools.
Meanwhile public schools, where nearly 90 percent of Pennsylvania's students learn, have already missed their July payments from the state and are set to miss their next payment in just a matter of days. That means NO NEW FUNDING will be coming to our schools at the start of the 2025-26 school year.
Please push your colleague to get back to the important work of funding our public schools properly and to stop this non-sense of attempting to use public money to fund unaccountable private education who chooses the students THEY want. Public money for public education!
