Oppose Military Action Against Iran and End Domestic Immigration Enforcement Violence
To: Rep. Joyce, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted
From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH
January 14
I am writing to urge you to oppose any military action against Iran and to demand an immediate end to violent immigration enforcement tactics being used against American protesters and communities.
The administration is threatening 25 percent tariffs on countries doing business with Iran and has suggested military strikes in response to Iran's crackdown on protesters. President Trump stated Iran is "starting to cross" his red line and has warned of military action if deadly force continues against demonstrators. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and National Security Council officials are currently developing options ranging from diplomatic approaches to military strikes.
The moral inconsistency is staggering. While the administration threatens war to protect Iranian protesters, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are using force against American protesters and conducting raids that terrorize communities across the United States. This double standard undermines any claim to defending human rights and exposes these threats against Iran as geopolitical posturing rather than genuine humanitarian concern.
Military action against Iran would be catastrophic. Analysts at the International Crisis Group warn that US strikes could lead to more repressive elements within the Revolutionary Guard taking control, or the country could descend into violent chaos similar to Libya, Syria, Yemen, or Iraq. Iran has already warned that US military forces and Israel would be "legitimate targets" if Washington uses force, risking a broader regional war.
I urge you to publicly oppose military intervention in Iran and to support diplomatic de-escalation efforts currently being pursued by France and Qatar. Simultaneously, I ask that you demand an immediate end to violent immigration enforcement operations and protection for the constitutional rights of American protesters.
Hypocrisy in foreign policy erodes America's moral standing and puts us all at risk. I expect you to stand against both unnecessary war abroad and state violence at home.
