Ukraine has endured immense suffering due to Russia's illegal invasion and desperately needs continued American support to defend its sovereignty. President Zelensky's desire for peace should be respected, not disparaged. Demanding gratitude and respect from Ukraine's leader while he fights for his nation's survival is deeply misguided. Maintaining steadfast military aid to Ukraine is crucial for facilitating a negotiated end to this tragic conflict on terms that preserve Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity. Weakening our commitment now would only embolden further Russian aggression and undermine America's global standing as a defender of democracy. Sustained assistance to Ukraine advances our core national interests and values. The behavior displayed by Trump and Vance today was absolutely appalling and deeply embarrassing. Any elected official who does not condemn their disgraceful behavior is a coward. We cannot remain silent in the face of such aggression. America should not be aligning itself with Putin and his invasion. Trump should not try to rewrite history.
