I am a constituent writing from Gardner, Kansas with an urgent demand: use the full authority of the United States Senate to invoke the War Powers Resolution of 1973 and end the unauthorized military campaign in Iran. The Senate has a unique constitutional duty here. No declaration of war has been issued. No Authorization for the Use of Military Force against Iran has been passed. This administration has unilaterally committed American troops to a conflict with no clear objective, no coherent justification, and no end in sight — and it is destabilizing an entire region in the process. Our soldiers deserve better. Military families across this country are watching their loved ones deployed into harm's way to serve what appears to be a political agenda, not a national security imperative. The shifting rationales, the absence of strategy, and the mounting regional chaos make it clear: this is not a war America authorized. The Senate has tools. Use them: 1. Force a floor vote on a War Powers Resolution compelling withdrawal of forces within 60 days. 2. Use the Senate's advise-and-consent role and oversight powers to demand full accountability from the administration. 3. Hold emergency hearings to expose the legal and strategic basis — or lack thereof — for these operations. The framers put Congress in charge of war for exactly this reason: to prevent one person from dragging a nation into conflict. This is your moment to honor that responsibility. I will be watching your response closely, and so will your constituents.
