Prioritize NIH women's health study - vital opportunity

The Trump administration's budget cuts and lack of prioritization for women's health research led to the National Institutes of Health canceling its groundbreaking $1.5 billion study that would have tracked 350,000 women from adolescence through old age. This unprecedented 30-year initiative aimed to examine how hormones, genetics, and lifestyle factors impact women's health across their lifespan. However, insufficient funding and lack of support from the Trump administration resulted in failure to meet recruiting goals, forcing the NIH to discontinue this vital effort. The administration must reconsider its policies and properly invest in advancing research tailored to women's specific healthcare needs. Abandoning such a crucial long-term study represents a major setback and disregard for an issue that affects over half the population.
