Oppose redundant H.R9218 Bill defining sex distinctions, protect human rights.

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Rubio, Rep. Buchanan

From: A constituent in Brandon, FL

December 3

The proposed legislation in H.R.9218 seeks to rigidly define biological sex in binary terms, disregarding the complex realities of human diversity. This undermines the rights and dignity of intersex individuals Including the nearly 2% of the population (almost 130,000,000 people ) worldwide affected by DSDs (Differences in Sex Development). The 14th amendments equal Protection clause prohibits discrimination based on sex. Therefore arguing for, and attempting to pass legislation rigidly defining male from female is a redundant waste of taxpayer dollars, as no legislation regarding crimes or rights is to be affected by sex. Attempting to legislate narrow definitions that exclude intersex people from legal recognition is unconstitutional and perpetuates harm against this already marginalized group. I urge you to reject this misguided legislation. Do not pass H.R.9218.
