The Cato Institute report raises grave concerns about legal immigrants being unlawfully deported to the notoriously inhumane Cecot prison in El Salvador. At least 50 of the over 200 Venezuelan nationals sent there had lawfully entered the United States through proper channels like refugee resettlement, parole programs, or ports of entry. Depriving legal residents of due process and subjecting them to such cruel conditions is an egregious violation of their rights. This warrants a thorough, independent investigation into how this occurred and accountability for those responsible. The American people deserve transparency about potential wrongdoing in stripping legal status from immigrants and transferring them to a foreign prison under false pretenses. Upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of all individuals within our borders is essential. An investigation is critical to ensuring nothing like this ever happens again. Put humanity over party. This is going to be a huge black mark on American history and you have the power to help minimize it at the very least. Do the right thing, you know this is absolutely inhumane.
