Support the Protect America's Workforce Act to Preserve Federal Labor Rights

To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

December 12

I am writing to urge you to support the Protect America's Workforce Act, which would nullify the Executive Order titled "Exclusions from Federal Labor-Management Relations Programs" issued on March 27, 2025. This legislation is essential to protecting the collective bargaining rights of federal employees and maintaining the stability of federal labor-management relations. The Executive Order threatens to exclude certain federal employees from labor relations programs, potentially weakening protections that workers have relied upon for years. The Protect America's Workforce Act would render this order without force or effect and prohibit the use of federal funds to implement it. Critically, the bill would preserve all collective bargaining agreements that were in effect as of March 26, 2025, ensuring they remain fully enforceable through their stated terms. Federal employees serve our communities with dedication, and they deserve the same workplace protections that many private sector workers enjoy. Collective bargaining agreements provide essential safeguards for fair wages, safe working conditions, and due process in employment matters. Disrupting these agreements would create uncertainty for thousands of federal workers and their families, potentially affecting the quality of services that constituents depend on daily. This legislation does not create new programs or require significant expenditures. Instead, it maintains the current administrative structure and prevents costly disruptions that would result from implementing exclusions to existing labor programs. By preserving the status quo, we avoid the administrative burden and potential legal challenges that would accompany sudden changes to federal labor policy. I ask that you support the Protect America's Workforce Act to ensure that federal employees retain their collective bargaining rights and that existing agreements remain intact. These workers deserve stability and respect for the agreements they have negotiated in good faith.
