AI should not be used for mass domestic surveillance, and especially not for kinetic autonomous operations. Pete Hegseth should be fired for his ultimatum to Anthropic. I’ve worked in technology for close to 30 years. AI is not ready for autonomous operation; human oversight must be required! Either Hegseth doesn’t understand the technology he wants to use, or he’s willfully ignoring the red flags. His threats to Anthropic show that he’s unhinged and ill-suited to his job. Fire Hegseth. Demand that AI is not used for domestic surveillance. Ensure that AI cannot be used autonomously for kinetic operations.
