Vote No on Reconciliation Bill That Funds ICE

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Sherman, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Sherman Oaks, CA

April 30

I need you to vote no on any reconciliation bill that includes additional funding for ICE. Not one more cent should go to an agency with a documented record of family separation, detention abuses, and civil rights violations. ICE already has more than enough resources to carry out enforcement operations. What it lacks is accountability. Increasing its budget rewards an agency that has repeatedly exceeded its authority and operated with impunity. The money could instead go toward processing asylum claims faster, improving immigration court backlogs, or supporting community-based alternatives to detention that cost less and work better. This is a line in the sand for me and many voters in your district. We will not accept a reconciliation package that expands ICE's capacity to harm immigrant families. Vote no on any bill that increases ICE funding.
